Girls basketball: Warriors stay perfect with road win at Richfield

RICHFIELD – The Snow Canyon Lady Warriors remained undefeated with a 45-36 win over Richfield Thursday night at RHS.

“We had a tough shooting night,” said Warrior head coach Dan Roden. “But we played well in all other facets of the game. We played great defense and took care of the ball. Tonight we only had seven turnovers for the game.”

In the second quarter, the Lady Wildcats bounced back and narrowed their deficit to 17-15 at halftime.

“In the second half, we got more shots to go down,” said Roden. “Sydney Bott hit four 3-pointers and every one of them seemed to come at crucial moments when Richfield would pull within four or five.”

Bott was the recipient of some good drive-and-dish assists from Madison Mooring.

“Richfield actually did well closing out on Bott,” said Roden. “Madison is good at drawing attention and then finding her. Bott also got some passes from our posts off offensive rebounds.”

Shaylee Reed led all players with 12 rebounds on the night to go with five points. Mooring and Bott scored 14 and 13 points, respectively. Mooring also dished out five assists.

Bott also got the defensive assignment most of the night for Madisyn Daniels, Richfield’s leading scorer, and held to her to only six points, half of her average.

Snow Canyon moves to 6-0 while Richfield falls to 5-3. The Lady Warriors will stay on the road, taking the trip north for Friday night’s game against Tooele in the Tooele County Classic. Game time is set for 4:45 p.m.
