ST. GEORGE – The body of a deceased man that was found Thursday afternoon has been identified by police. So far, the cause of death remains unknown.
Area resident Joey Caruso, 46, was identified by police as the man discovered around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in a field behind C-A-L Ranch, 2849 E. 850 North, St. George Police Officer Derek Lewis said.
Lewis said Caruso was found in a transient-type campsite where he had some of his belongings gathered. Caruso may have been temporarily living there, he said.
At this time, the cause of death does not appear to be suspicious, Lewis said. The police haven’t ruled out the possibility of a suicide, but nothing will be known for sure until an autopsy is conducted, he said.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
