ST. GEORGE – Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Justin Gardner has recently joined St. George Veterinary Hospital and The Animal Tender where he will spend four days a week providing care and treatment to small animals, according to co-owners and Doctors of Veterinary Medicine Bruce Jacobson and Kelly Houston.

Justin Gardner DVM“I am delighted to bring my family home to southern Utah,” said the new veterinary associate, whose missionary service in Germany, educational studies and veterinary internship in Texas took him away from his hometown for nearly 10 years. Gardner has a ranching background; a love of animals – especially horses – and a special interest in equine sports medicine, which he practices on the other days of the week.

A fifth generation descendent of Southwestern Utah early pioneer settlers, Gardner grew up carefree and “always outdoors,” one of six children on the family ranch in Pine Valley. He attended Dixie State University when it was still Dixie College, then completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University. In May 2013, he successfully completed his advanced education requirements to earn a doctor of veterinary medicine and a master’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University. His advanced degree, he said, was “the right fit for me, combining my interests in animals, medicine and business.”

St. George Veterinary Hospital, located at 775 S. Main Street, is a well-established, full service, small animal veterinary care facility serving the community for more than 50 years. In addition to a wide range of diagnostic procedures, veterinarians and staff provide complete medical, surgical, and dental care. The facility also includes pharmacy, laboratory, surgery suite, x-ray, and hospitalization areas.
