The public is invited to a mixed-media sculpture demo Saturday, March 4, from 1-2:30 p.m., at Red Cliff Gallery, City Commons Building, 220 N 200 E, St. George.
• Presented by Deborah Laux (well-known Southern Utah artist)
• Public welcome; free event
• No registration; seating limited
Deborah Laux talks about and demonstrates various mixed-media sculpture techniques. She will demo sculpting with hot-glued, crumpled aluminum to build the form, application of paper mache materials, and adhering tissue paper for color.
The discussion will include other sculpture methods: modeling with air dry clay; armatures; the process from oil clay to bronze; water clay and firing; and casting with cement. There are many ways to create 3D figures. Choose the best method for your particular project. Take home a bit of air-dry clay to play with.
