Love of Reading Week

Each year Gateway celebrates National Reading Month and Read Across America, which coincide with Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

The first week of March classrooms were filled with his iconic books, food, hats and activities. Students tried green eggs and ham, made oobleck, designed their favorite book covers and dressed as their favorite storybook character. In addition to these classroom activities, students and families were able to participate in our annual Donuts with Dudes and Muffins with Misses.

We had a huge turnout and everyone loved being able to share breakfast with their favorite people. So many skills are developed when a child reads-critical thinking, speech, language and imagination. As educators, we are always looking for engaging ways to encourage the love of reading for each of our students and this month makes it extra special!
