CEDAR CITY — At a recent promotional ceremony at the Iron County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, two officers were promoted to the rank of sergeant, while two others were promoted to corporal.
Sgt. Nathan Houchen, Sgt. N. Caleb Anderson and Cpl. Shawn Peterson were sworn July 30 in by Iron County Sheriff Ken Carpenter.
Cpl. Devin Lauritzen was unable to be present at the ceremony, so he was sworn in a few days later.
“You’re truly leaders within the sheriff’s office,” Carpenter said during his remarks. “I don’t know that our community really fully appreciates the sacrifices that you’ve made.”
Lt. Del Schlosser also addressed the newly promoted officers and their families, admonishing them to embrace their role as leaders.
“React to situations with the utmost professionalism, as that is part and parcel of what your mission entails as a leader,” Schlosser said, adding, “Serve your community with all the pride you can muster.”
Additionally, a few days after the promotion ceremony, Iron County Sheriff’s Office welcomed its newest deputy, Ryan Turk, who was sworn in Aug. 3.
