Dixie State University’s Women’s Resource Center has many ways to help students in need

ST. GEORGE — Are you a student at Dixie State University? The Women’s Resource Center has as a variety of resources to help endure the new year.

Staying connected

In need of a laptop or tablet for the upcoming semester? Look no further than the center’s Technology Support Rental Project running from Jan. 21st to April 22. All you need to do is send in a one paragraph statement describing your need for a laptop or tablet and schedule pick up and drop off times by emailing wrcstaff@dixie.edu. There is a $20 non-refundable rental fee for every two weeks of use. This is first come, first served during Women’s Resource Center office hours only found online here.

Upon return, laptops will be cleared by personnel and any stored files will be deleted. Renter must sign and abide by the DSU Computer Rental Agreement.

Hygiene

Thanks to private donors the Women’s Resource Center at DSU is now able to offer free hygiene products to any student, faculty, or staff in need from Jan. 21 through April 22 or until they’re gone. To pick up, visit the office in the Holland building, room 489 during office hours, which can be found by visiting here.

DOVE advocacy service

The center is now working with the DOVE Center to provide on-campus support for survivors of sexual assault. Meetings are free and strictly confidential for all students, faculty and staff in need. This will take place every Monday from Jan. 27 through April 20 from 3-5 p.m in Holland building, room 489. Walk-ins are welcome.

Free bras and menstrual hygiene products

Thanks to our community partner, I Support the Girls, any Dixie State University student, faculty, or staff in need is welcome to come to the center from Jan.  21 to April 22 to receive free bras and menstrual hygiene products, no questions asked. This service is only available duringoffice hours, which can be found by visiting here.

One-time free reusable cloth pantyliner

Ever tried reusable menstrual products? DSU students can try a one-time free cloth pantyliner by emailing orders@gladrags.com using your student Dmail address and mentioning this Women’s Resource Center offer.

Free safety whistles

Stop by  and pick up a free safety whistle donated by DSU Campus Police. This service runs from Jan. 21 through April 22  during office hours, which can be found here or posted outside their door.

T-shirt fundraising project

The Women’s Resource Center at Dixie University T-shirt Fundraising Project will start on Jan. 21 and continue through April 22 (or until gone) during office hours in the Holland building, room 489. Sales will help fund the centers technology support project for DSU female students. T-shirts are sold for $10. There will be limited supplies and only on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spring mentoring application

Are you a female student looking for a mentor? Let the center help. Submit a WRC Mentoring Online Application Form here by Feb. 28 at 11:59 p.m. From there, the center’s committee will attempt to match you with a female faculty/staff mentor in your discipline or field of interest.

Wo-mentoring allows individuals to connect with role models who can nurture their academic and professional development.

Free laptop award for Fall 2020

Attention female students, the center is offering need-based support for selected DSU students who lack tech access at home. Online application form is available now at wrc.dixie.edu and due March 29,  by 11:59 p.m. Eligible students must be junior status or below, degree-seeking, registered for at least six credits in Fall 2020, have a transcript with a GPA of at least 3.0 and respond to two essay questions.

The Women’s Resource Center committee will announce the recipients in the summer.
