CEDAR CITY — A Cedar City women is seeking assistance with medical and living expenses for her parents, Margi and Don Cowles.

Mary Parks said that her mother and stepfather are 64 and 70 years old and are active members of their church. They have been part of the community in Cedar City for over 15 years and desperately need help.

Parks said her parents were recently released from the hospital after becoming very sick from COVID-19. Margi Cowles already had congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes prior to contracting coronavirus and suffered a stroke while in the hospital. She is now unable to walk, talk, think, see or operate her left arm or hand correctly.

Don Cowles is a truck driver but is unable to go back to work since he is the only one able to care for his wife, Parks said, so their only source of income is his Social Security payments, which the couple cannot survive on alone.

Parks said her parents’ goal is to pay off the fifth-wheel trailer they live in so they can afford to get by with their other expenses, and she implores anyone who is able to make a contribution to their GoFundMe campaign. Even the smallest contribution would be greatly appreciated; if you can’t donate, Parks asks that you share the link.
