Cedar City native earns Master’s degree in physician assistant studies

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Chelsey Pearson, M.M.S., of Cedar City,has completed the Master of Medical Science (M.M.S.) in Physician Assistant Studies degree at the College of Health Sciences of Midwestern University. An official graduation ceremony and conferring of degrees took place on the Midwestern University campus in Glendale, Arizona, on Aug. 31.

Pearson is the daughter of Cedar City residents Bradley and Cindy Rehkop. After graduating from Cedar High School in 2010, she earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Southern Utah University in 2014. While at MWU, she enjoyed the frequent “study dates” with her husband, Michael, who is currently attending the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona at MWU. After graduation, Ms. Pearson plans to work in Obstetrics and Gynecology in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

The Physician Assistant (PA) Studies master’s program at Midwestern University provides a rigorous 27-month curriculum that prepares students to practice medicine with physician supervision. A typical PA practice centers on patient care and may include educational, research, and administrative duties.

The College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University was founded in 1992 for the purpose of offering programs in health professions that have a demonstrated shortage. The College offers degrees in Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Biomedical Sciences, Podiatric Medicine, Nurse Anesthesia, Clinical Psychology, Cardiovascular Science, and Physical Therapy.
