CEDAR CITY – Artists and those who love art are invited to a free event Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Center lobby, 105 N. 100 E. in Cedar City. The Cedar City Arts Council, a nonprofit organization, sponsors networking socials as community events to share the work of artists and offer opportunities to increase collaboration.
Tammy Columbo from the Neil Simon Festival will sing “My Party Dress: from “Henry and Mudge.”
Megan Marshall-Nelson will present several of her pastels. She is a recipient of a Cedar City Arts Council artist grant which allowed her to attend a summer watercolor workshop. She currently teaches art at Canyon View Middle School in Cedar City.
The Southern Utah String Quartet performs music including a piece by Mendelssohn and the “Prayer,” popularized by Josh Groban and Celine Dion. The quartet started in 1992 with Leah Brown, Suzanne Stewart, and Sara Penny with the fourth person and the occasional pianist changing over the years.
“We’re pleased to have Ling Yu join this year as our first violin,” Penny said. “We focus on music with strong melodies and dramatic contrasts and especially love the Romantic era composers.”
A selection of sandwiches and treats will be provided by La Boulangerie Marie, Cedar City’s French restaurant.
Denise Purvis, Steve Yates, and Danny Stewart direct the networking socials.
