City of St. George staff said in a news release that the works of talented Hispanic artists Zaida Machado and Brandon Jauregui will be featured this summer at the museum.

“We are so excited to showcase the work of two extremely talented artists for our Summer Exhibition on a night filled with art, culture and music,” St. George Art Museum Administrative Assistant Elena Turman said. “In addition to the eye-catching and thought-provoking art, enjoy the flamenco music of Ricardo Griego.”

Machado, a St. George resident and Utah Tech University alumna, explores Mexican heritage and traditional clothing through her paintings.

According to the release, her goal is to depict how the body reacts, changes and evokes different emotions in diverse environments. Through her paintings, she seeks to allow herself and the viewer to learn and appreciate their roots and have cultural pride.

Brandon Jauregui is an interdisciplinary artist primarily working in oil on canvas.

Brandon has explored an array of genres and techniques ranging from minimalist color theory works to his current genre, which collides an influence of surrealism and symbolic mythology, the release states.

Flamenco guitarist Ricardo Griego will provide music for the reception. Studio Art Quilt Associates’ travel exhibit “Sustainability” will also be featured.

According to the news release, entrance to the museum is free, but donations are welcomed. The summer exhibition will run from June 1 to Aug. 24 at 47 E. 200 N., St. George.
