FEATURE — While a new moon symbolizes fresh starts, a solar eclipse is believed to trigger fated events that can drastically alter a life.

At 12:21 p.m. MDT on Monday, a total solar eclipse at 19 degrees Aries will darken daylight hours. While Southern Utah won’t be in the pathway for viewing the eclipse in totality, the astrological significance is set to be impactful, creating waves of change that unfold over the next six months.

In the first sign of the Zodiac Aries, this cosmic event is fueled with the energy of initiation. Passion projects, independence and self-assertion draw to the center of focus. Aries’ mantra is “I breathe,” symbolizing the first breath of life, and how we breathe life into projects.

The last time a solar eclipse occurred in Aries at approximately the same degree was April 8, 2005. Think back to the events in your life at this time, as similar themes are likely to re-emerge.

We may find our sense of independence challenged, as we are pushed to consider whether we are being true to ourselves. Though it can be difficult to face, change is necessary for growth, and the will to ride the waves of changes bolsters our sense of self-reliance, and the happiness that comes as a byproduct.

In addition to the moon, the sun, Mercury, Venus, North Node and Chiron will all be in the sign of Aries at the time of the eclipse.
