KANAB — Police have identified a man who was killed in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 89 that injured six others.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers and emergency crews responded to a report of a crash Wednesday evening on the highway about 7 miles south of Mount Carmel Junction.

Troopers said the male driver of a Ford F-150 pickup was traveling south on U.S. 89 when he tried to pass a Kenworth semitruck in front of him; however, the driver didn’t have enough space to complete the pass and collided head-on with a Ford Edge traveling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles ended up in the path of the semitruck, which collided with them before going off the road.

The driver of the pickup, identified Sunday as Allen Huntington, 83, of Kanab, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. A passenger in his truck was also hospitalized with “moderate” injuries, troopers said.
