Hickman is a multi-sport athlete, representing the Warriors in track and field as well as football. A senior, he competes in the javelin throw.

Hickman smashed his own 4A state record with a throw of 206 feet, 1 inch at the Dixie High Invitational last month, where the Snow Canyon boys took top honors. Just a couple of weeks later, he again eclipsed his personal best with a throw of 207 feet, 5 inches at the BYU Invitational.

“Be the hardest worker out on the field,” he said. “You may not have the most talent, the most abilities, but you can definitely show up through your effort every day.”

Sports are in Hickman’s blood. His dad, a huge Raiders fan, named him after the legendary Bo Jackson, who was renowned for excelling in two sports at the elite level.

“Just a freak athlete, he was just good at anything,” Hickman said. “That’s probably my favorite athlete.”

Off the field, Hickman holds himself to high academic standards. He has maintained a stellar 4.0 GPA throughout his time at Snow Canyon along with taking advanced placement and college courses. After graduating, he will serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in West Virginia and hopes to continue competing in javelin at the collegiate level.
