Familiar face takes over as Washington County economic development director

ST. GEORGE — A local professional with over 25 years ears of executive business experience has been appointed to a key position in Washington County.

Darren Prince has been appointed by the Washington County Commission as the new economic development director for Washington County.

“Washington County is a special place, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve the community in this new role,” Prince said in a news release. “I believe that by working together, we can build upon our existing assets and bring greater prosperity to all residents and businesses.”

Born and raised in the Hurricane Valley, Prince is familiar with the unique needs and opportunities of Washington County. He is a graduate of Dixie State University (2019), having earned a bachelor of science degree in communications with an emphasis in organizational leadership. He and his wife have six children who all attended Hurricane High School, the news release said.

Prince’s vision for economic development is centered on collaboration. He believes that by working together, the community can bring prosperity to all areas of the county.

“I look forward to engaging with local businesses, community leaders and stakeholders to build an even brighter future for Washington County,” Prince said in the news release.

As an avid outdoorsman, Prince loves to hike, hunt and mountain bike. His passion for the natural beauty of Washington County is matched by his dedication to the economic prosperity of the region, the news release said.

Prince’s appointment comes at a critical time for Washington County as leaders seek to strengthen their local economy and build a more resilient future. According to the news release, the County Commission is “confident that Darren’s leadership and experience will help to drive economic diversity, growth and overall prosperity throughout even the region and state.”
