Chari Lynn Barnes Reighard

Nov. 25, 1963-March 21, 2023

Chari Lynn Barnes Reighard, age 59, passed away peacefully March 21, 2023, in St. George, Utah, surrounded by her family and her beloved dog Brownie. She was born on Nov. 25, 1963, in San Bernardino, California, to Bud and Margie Barnes and was the seventh out of nine children. Her early childhood years were spent in Colton, California, and a few years later, her family moved to Rialto, California, where she lived for the next 30 years.

Growing up, Chari lived life to the fullest, surrounded by a large and fun-loving family that enjoyed spending time together at the beach, mountains, deserts and various family events throughout the years. Her family also visited Provo, Utah, every year to see her grandma, Mary Ann Edwards Gurr Duke, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Chari had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was raised in the LDS church.

Chari had an active lifestyle, enjoying swimming, roller-skating, bike riding, being outdoors and playing with animals. As she got older, she rode a moped everywhere she went until she got her car. She worked in the family recreational business, which gave her opportunities to travel and have fun.

Chari loved all kinds of music and loved to sing along. She could always be found in the kitchen baking sweet treats to share with others. She was very creative and enjoyed cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and painting. She loved playing games such as Rook, Five Crowns, Speed, Dominos and of course those crazy Mesquite trips to play bingo and 21.

In her early adult years, Chari moved to Southern Utah, where she met Mark Reighard, the love of her life, introduced to her by her niece Kristy. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1998, and soon after they found out they were expecting their first child. Sadly, Kaylin did not survive birth due to complications. Just six weeks later they found out they were expecting Mariah.

Chari loved watching Mariah compete in beauty contests, karate, soccer and softball and enjoyed life through her eyes. Chari’s greatest joy was when she became a grandma to Hazen, Griffin and Aurora, which brought a special light into her life that she loved sharing with everyone.

Chari and Mark recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, a significant milestone for them and their posterity.

She is survived by her husband Mark Reighard; daughter Mariah Reighard (Zach Woodward); grandchildren Hazen, Griffin and Aurora; Catherine Ann Olsen (mother-in-law); siblings Carol Barnes (sister-in-law), Carol (Art) Letkey, Nevada Barnes (sister-in-law), Jim Barnes, Kathy (Dennis) Pace, Ricky (Myra) Barnes, Tracy (Jim) Sanford, Dennis (Melissa) Barnes and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Kaylin Reighard, Ellno C (Bud) Barnes (Father), Margie Gurr Barnes (Mother), Earl Barnes (Brother), Larry Barnes (Brother) and Carla Barnes (sister-in-law).
