After an extra-long stay in Gemini, which began Aug. 20, 2022, Mars entered Cancer at 5:45 a.m. Saturday and will remain until May 20. Mars is yang energy and represents our driving force toward self-actualization. Mars energy can be understood as the adrenaline that surges upon completing a challenge. It directs our will toward competition and direct action.

Mars in Cancer, the water sign of home and family life, is motivated by a need for security. Collectively, this transit is about trusting instincts as a method for propulsion. Forward momentum will be more reflective and prioritizes comfort over spontaneous risk. It’s a time to tap into the sensitivity of internal and external environments.

In its detriment, Mars is uncomfortable in Cancer and can trigger emotional upsets and exacerbate frustration. Anticipate mood swings and try to avoid a direct approach. There’s a tendency to be defensive rather than overtly aggressive.

On Sunday, Mercury, the planet of perception, conjuncts Chiron, the “Wounded Healer,” which will stimulate intuitive understanding. This is a good day to gain new insight into the self or others in order to foster growth and healing.

On Tuesday, Mercury will then conjunct Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, which spurs sudden inspiration and opens a window for us to see the “bigger picture” through an optimistic lens. Expressing ideas is favored under this short-term transit, and it’s a good time to submit applications and consider long-range plans.

On Thursday, Uranus, the planet of revolution and authenticity, conjuncts the goddess of love, Venus, which could inspire some to redefine their relationship in order to feel like a truer version of themselves or to feel freer in some way. This also could unearth unexpected proclamations of love or loving ourselves in a way that highlights eccentricities. We are drawn to the unique and unusual during this time.

So what does all this mean for your sign? Find out below.

Aries
March 21-April 19

With your modern-day ruling planet, Mars, in Cancer now, you might find yourself feeling a little more withdrawn, defensive and sensitive than usual, dear Aries. This is a good time to direct your energy to matters related to home. Perhaps you’ve been needing to make home repairs or replace an appliance. Cooking may feel especially therapeutic during this time. This energy also could stir up arguments at home, so be careful that you’re not being overly territorial or combative. You may also see some opposition from people in your career or a father figure.

Early in the week, you may experience sudden inspiration or insight into a part of yourself that’s been put on the back burner. You’re wanting to think about who you are and how you show up in the world. Toward the end of the week, the Uranus-Venus conjunction could draw you to purchase something unusual or you may desire to uniquely express by switching up your regular attire.

Taurus
April 20-May 20

With Mars now in a part of the sky that deals with short-distance travel, learning and communication, you may find yourself feeling rather restless, dear Taurus. It may feel that your mind is cranked to a high speed and won’t shut off. This could stir up tense conversations with siblings, cousins or neighbors. A tendency to over-identify with your ideas or beliefs could cause you to feel more prone to stirring the pot around those who see things differently. It would be wise to funnel this energy into learning a new skill or intellectual pursuit.

Early in the week, a hidden or suppressed matter may rise to the forefront of your mind. Rather than trying to escape the discomfort, you may discover something new that inspires you to confront the issue and work to heal it. A dream could carry an important message. On Thursday, your ruling planet Venus aligns with Uranus in your sign, which will have you pouring extra love on yourself and appreciating your unique beauty.

Gemini

With Mars now out of your sign, and into a part of the sky that deals with personal finances and self-esteem, dear Gemini. This transit spells impulse buying, and you may feel more attached to possessions during this time or try to assert your self-worth through monetary means. You are wanting to enjoy the finer things in life. It may be best to take a look now, buy later approach with any major expenditures. This energy is best directed toward thinking of new ways to make money and establishing a sense of worth.

At the beginning of the week, with your ruling planet Mercury connecting with both Chiron and Jupiter in your 11th house of friendships and future, you may realize something that’s been holding you back or making you feel a bit disconnected and be inspired to change. On Thursday, your imagination is likely to be running wild. It’s a great day to creatively express yourself.

Cancer
June 21–July 22

With Mars now in your sign, dear Cancer, you’ll be feeling more energetic, assertive and ready to take action. As Cancer is prone to mood swings, look out for sudden bursts of anger or talking over others. This is a good time to step out of your shell and go after something.

Aug. 23–Sept. 22

Later on in the week, you’re looking deeper into the “truth” of what you think, and an unexpected shift in perception could reignite an optimistic outlook.

This is a rather spicy place for Mars and may push you toward exploring the taboo and desiring a deeper intimacy with a close partner. You’re wanting to dive deep below the surface to uncover something new. Be careful of tensions over shared resources, as there could be a tendency to argue over shared possessions or money.

At the beginning of the week, you may see how fear has been holding you back from creative endeavors, whether it’s fear in the production or fear in showing others.
