ST. GEORGE — Utah Tech’s baseball team concluded a road trip Tuesday after an 11-2 trouncing by the Arizona Wildcats.

According to a university press release, three costly errors led to a pair of big Arizona rallies and the Trailblazers remained winless on the road this season, falling to 7-15 overall.

Arizona (13-6) plated a run in the first inning before tallying three unearned runs in the fifth following a Utah Tech miscue.

The Trailblazers got two of those runs back in the sixth inning courtesy of Tyson Fisher’s pinch-hit double down the left field line at Hi Corbett Field.

Levi Randall and Shane Taylor crossed the dish and cut the UT deficit to 4-2.

After that the Wildcats, who have won four national championships in program history, took advantage of two more UT errors in the seventh frame and scored five runs.

Two more Arizona runs in the eighth inning put the game out of reach.

Utah Tech returns home to St. George for a three-game Western Athletic Conference series this weekend at Bruce Hurst Field against Stephen F. Austin.

SFA is 8-12 overall and 2-4 in WAC play.

Friday’s series opener will start at 6:05 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. and Sunday’s series finale at 12:05 p.m.

Utah Tech is 2-1 in the WAC standings after taking two of a three-game home series against New Mexico State, March 17-19.

Sam Houston is the early frontrunner in the WAC, off to a 6-0 start in conference action.
