Nicolaas Joseph Jacobs

Nicolaas Joseph Jacobs passed away March 18, 2023. He was born in Amsterdam, Holland, on April 11, 1936, to parents Joseph Jacobs and Jo Van Derwerff. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. On Jan. 10, 1959, Nic married his sweetheart, Maria Albanese, and they were married for nearly five decades.

Nic and Maria traveled the world together and lived a beautiful life. They were never able to have children of their own, but over the years, they hosted many foreign exchange students in their home, and they adored their nieces and nephews. After Maria’s passing, Nic met and married Mary Katherine La Pinta and inherited her two children: Ashley (Cameron) and Joseph Walton; and their two Shih Tzus Maggie and Sadie. Later, Nic had the opportunity to become a grandfather to Amelia Jeanne Cox, the light of his life.

Nic studied horticulture, and upon moving to the United States, was drafted into the Army. Nic worked hard for many years at Riverside Municipal Electrical Company where he managed a large team of people, and when he retired, he moved to Southern Utah.

Nic is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Bob, Lou, Paul, Josette, Tom, Molly, Rob and Marion; and countless other family members. Nic is survived by his wife Mary; children: Ashley Cox (Cameron) and Joseph Walton; and his granddaughter Amelia Cox. He is also survived by his brother Peter Jacobs (JoAnne); nephews Paul Jr. Jacobs (Amanda), Paul Kelly (Wendy); niece Carol Marquez (Ruben); and countless other family members.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, at 3 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George Utah.
