ST. GEORGE — A glancing collision between a pick-up and a sedan sent at least one of the vehicles into a ditch on the straightaway of Sand Hollow Road near Diamond Ranch Academy in Hurricane early Friday afternoon.

The incident, which transpired around 1 p.m., closed both sides of Sand Hollow for a time.

“It shut down the road for a few minutes, but that’s the only effect it had,” Hurricane Police officer Dan Radditz said.

Police say a dark blue Volkswagen Passat and a white Dodge Ram, each with a single passenger,  were traveling in opposite directions when one vehicle crossed the center line.

Officers weren’t able to determine which vehicle crossed.

“The officer wasn’t able to determine who went across the line,” Radditz said. “We categorize this as a head-on collision, but it was more like a glancing blow.”

Police said the VW ended up in a ditch. The pick-up was also seen on the side of the road.

Both drivers were checked by first responders at the scene but had no injuries. With no determination of fault, no citations were issued.
