The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the corner next to the Mountain America Credit Union and Dutch Bros.

Several first responders from the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance worked on the male victim while he was lying in the grass in front of the credit union, employing a neck brace and placing him on a flat board.

The male was loaded into a Gold Cross Ambulance and taken to St. George Regional Hospital.

An officer could be seen carrying a kick scooter away, with its wooden base appearing to be partially chipped off though it was not clear if the damage was from the incident.

St. George Police officers on the scene said a witness driving by at the time described the male of undetermined age on the kick scooter being hit at slow speed by a red Jeep Cherokee driven by a female as the only passenger.

“The vehicle was southbound here on 2100 West, approaching the stop sign,” officer Trevor Anderson said. “The vehicle slowed and kind of looked to the left but then continued going. So she didn’t see the pedestrian coming from the right crossing.”

Just before citing the driver, officers were looking closely at the front passenger-side of the vehicle, pointing out superficial marks.

The scene itself didn’t cause much disruption as no lanes were blocked. However, some at the Dutch Bros. and a nearby auto parts business could be seen looking on, as well as other motorists slowing down to look at the scene.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
