ST. GEORGE — Plumbing: everybody needs it, but what’s it all about? In this episode of “Grady Clocks In,” host Grady Sinclair spent a day in a plumber’s shoes.
Sinclair accompanied Dan Quick, one of the licensed technicians at Walker Plumbing, Heating & Air, to visit a customer’s home and investigate a leaking kitchen faucet. They donned the signature blue plastic booties, then grabbed a toolkit and got to work.

After taking care of the leak, Quick showed Sinclair some possible causes of the problem, including the hard water residue – a very common issue in Southern Utah – coating the pipes and hoses of the sink. A water softener was installed in the customer’s garage, but it hadn’t been maintained recently and wasn’t regenerating as often as necessary, which fortunately is a quick fix.
Quick also showed Sinclair how to check the house’s water pressure and locate the water shutoff valve.
