Beginning at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Dixie Convention Center’s Garden Room, St. George Mayor Michele Randall, along with new City Manager John Willis and Public Works Director Cameron Cutler, will collaborate to deliver State of the City 2023: Our Path Forward. There is no charge to attend the event and light refreshments will be available, according to a press release issued by the city.

“I am excited to connect with all those who live and work in St. George to share all the great things we are doing as a city,” Randall said in the press release. “An added benefit to this event is that the Transportation Expo is just down the hall; you can attend both events and learn so much about St. George.”

Randall and her team will discuss the city of St. George’s accomplishments in 2022 and give a sneak peek on plans for 2023 and beyond as they pertain to:

  • Growth and infrastructure
  • Water
  • Quality of Life
  • Public Safety
  • Transportation

Randall will announce the dates and sites for the 2023 Neighborhood Open Houses, unveil the latest renderings for the new City Hall and for the first time show Part 2 of the “Headband Bandit” saga leading up to the Cops and Robbers 5K on May 20.

State of the City will be broadcast live on the Community Education Channel’s YouTube page, as well as on TDS Channel 108.

In addition to the State of the City event, the Dixie Regional Transportation Expo will be in full swing down the hall at the Dixie Center, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Expo is free to attend, with the opportunity to dive a little deeper into some of the projects mentioned in the State of the City address.

The transportation efforts of neighboring agencies, including Washington County cities, the Utah Department of Transportation, and the Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization, will also be on display at the expo regarding transportation projects and active transportation enhancements.

Participants will discover concept ideas for improvements being considered years into the future, plans and schedules for each project happening within the next couple of years and each booth is staffed by knowledgeable team members to answer questions and take comments.

UDOT, along with local leaders, are focusing on two areas of improvement for the Interstate 15 corridor through the cities of Washington and St. George:

  • The expansion of I-15 to three lanes in each direction from Exits 10 to 13, along with the addition of an interchange (Exit 11) near Main Street in Washington City
  • The expansion of I-15 to three lanes in each direction between Exits 6 and 8, along with an environmental study of a potential interchange at mile marker 7 (700 South) for additional access to the interstate on this segment
