Flowing from natural mountain springs deep within the nether regions of Utah, Beaver Water is a new way to stay hydrated.

In celebration of the launch of the Beaver Water brand, the company’s owners are demonstrating their commitment to supporting Southern Utah by donating 13,000 cans of their great-tasting product to the Switchpoint Community Resource Center in St. George.

“This is actually our first batch of the Beaver Water product, so we thought there’s no better way to make a statement and get things started than to donate it to Switchpoint,” co-founder Brandon Hunt said.

Switchpoint’s mission is to address poverty and homelessness in Southern Utah by providing a comprehensive plan to support individuals and families on their journey to self-sufficiency. The organization offers emergency shelter, food, housing, employment and 24/7 child care, among other services. Spencer Holmes, chief strategic officer for Friends of Switchpoint Inc., told St. George News that Beaver Water’s generous donation will benefit many people in need throughout the area.

“With the current economic conditions and inflation, the need is at an all-time high,” he added. “We’re grateful for companies like Beaver Water that think about their community first.”

The Beaver Water story begins back in 2006, when Beaver’s municipal water system snatched the top prize at the National Rural Water Association’s Great American Taste Test, a nationwide competition held annually in Washington, D.C. Billboards just outside of town proclaiming Beaver’s water as the best in the U.S. have greeted travelers along I-15 ever since.

Hunt and his wife, Brittney, drove past one of those billboards while moving to St. George in 2010. Once they got settled in their new home, he did some research and found that Beaver’s award-winning water supply flows from natural springs high in the Tushar Mountains east of the city.

“It was just an idea in the back of our minds for 12 years,” he said. “Finally, we decided to pull the trigger and make it happen.”

Last year, the Hunts gained access to Beaver’s water supply along with bottling and canning rights, and Beaver Water was born. They’re currently selling cases of still water at gas stations in Beaver, Fillmore and St. George, as well as online, with flavored and carbonated versions to follow.

Beaver Water is truly a beverage company with a bigger purpose. They provide the Beaver County School District with cans of water for students to sell at sports games to raise money, and a penny from every can sold goes back to the city of Beaver.

Hunt also pledges to donate 10% of the profits from every can sold to organizations dedicated to making life better for women everywhere. Additionally, 100% of the profits from Beaver Water’s online merchandise shop will be donated to nonprofits that empower and support women. Their first charity partner is the Young Survival Coalition, a nationwide organization for women under age 40 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Ultimately, Hunt’s goal is to grow Beaver Water into a nationwide name. He envisions building a 200,000-square-foot facility on 10 acres of land where the company will provide bottling and canning services for not only his brand but other water labels as well, generating a significant economic impact for the community.

“We’re just a local company that’s kind of bucking the system,” he said. “We like to laugh about our name, but we also know that it’s important to be respectful and provide people with a good service. We’re having fun while doing good.”
