Washington City houses demolished in preparation for new Exit 11 on Interstate 15

ST. GEORGE —Washington City residents might have noticed a few houses and trees missing from the west end of Main Street.

Ground crews are preparing for the start of construction for a new I-15 interchange to be labeled Exit 11. When completed, travelers will be able to access the freeway from downtown Washington City.

Woman injured in officer-involved shooting near Cedar City

IRON COUNTY — A woman was injured Sunday night in an officer-involved shooting a few miles northwest of Cedar City.

2 out-of-towners jailed following alleged burglary attempt at St. George skateboard shop

ST. GEORGE —Two men traveled from out of state to commit crimes in St. George, according to the police. They are now in jail after their alleged efforts to gain access to a skateboard store on St. George Boulevard were foiled by an observant officer, the store’s security system and a swift response by police early Thursday morning.

Rush hour River Road wreck restrains traffic after vehicle flipped upside down

ST. GEORGE — St. George Police, the fire department and Gold Cross Ambulance personnel responded to an incident on River Road on Friday afternoon that left two vehicles needing to be towed from the scene. One car needed to be flipped over back onto its tires before being loaded onto the tow truck.

‘A great benefit’: St. George Regional Airport offers more than vending machine food

ST. GEORGE —For more than a decade, the sole source of food and drink for the people flying in and out of the St. George Regional Airport each year were vending machines. That changed last December when Tailwind Concessions opened expanded food offerings for travelers.
