‘A lot of meaning behind it’: State Bank of Southern Utah unveils new logo reflecting heritage, vision

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Offering personal and business financial solutions as well as loans, State Bank of Southern Utah has been the community’s friendly hometown bank for 66 years and counting. The bank is now entering the next chapter of its history by unveiling a new logo.

The previous logo has been in use for the past 22 years and depicts the silhouette of two iconic Southern Utah rock formations, Thor’s Hammer in Bryce Canyon National Park and the Great White Throne in Zion National Park, along with the bristlecone pine tree. While this imagery represents the area well, the bank decided to refresh its brand with a modern logo that reflects both its heritage and future.

The new logo, a minimalist green and black design, isolates the tree within a loop. The bristlecone pine grows in mountainous regions of the Western United States and is one of the oldest life forms on Earth, living upwards of 5,000 years. Chief marketing officer Cordelle Morris said it was chosen as the new symbol of State Bank of Southern Utah because it’s steadfast and unwavering in good and bad times, just like the bank.

“We chose a strong local symbol because of the bank’s history. We love the symbolism that as the tree grows, branches are added, strengthening the tree. Similarly, as the bank continues to grow and branches are added, it strengthens our communities. This allows us to give back to the communities we serve, just like a tree bearing fruit.

“Every tree starts as a small seed,” Morris continued. “Although small, it carries the potential to grow into a towering monument of strength and resilience.  As a company, State Bank recognizes and values the potential in every seed – every customer and every employee.”

State Bank of Southern Utah was created to meet the needs of the residents of Southern Utah. The bank’s founders knew that local decisions would produce better results.

The bank firmly planted its roots here in 1957 and understands Southern Utah’s local economy. The ability to make local decisions on loans and financial services has always been at the center of the company’s culture and business model.

“What makes us unique is that you know who we are, and we know who you are,” Morris said. “Relationships matter to us. That is why we are in the smaller communities where other banks don’t have a presence.”

State Bank of Southern Utah operates more locations than any other financial institution in the area and has flourished by focusing on the needs of its customers. The bank’s mission is to empower individuals and businesses to take control of their financial destiny, which improves the quality of life for everyone in the area. If you have a financial need, come to State Bank of Southern Utah and discover a local solution.
