The two-vehicle crash happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. and involved a 2006 Honda Pilot SUV and 2020 Mazda 3.

The collision occurred when the driver of the SUV – who was westbound on Red Hills Parkway and made a left turn left toward Gateway Drive – entered the intersection and collided with the Mazda 3 as it passed through the intersection at the same time, St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell told St. George News in a text message.

“(The Mazda’s driver) was in the number one lane eastbound and both collided in the middle of the intersection as driver one made the left turn,” Mitchell said.

St. George police and fire personnel arrived on scene along with Gold Cross Ambulance. The driver of the Honda Pilot was transported to St. George Regional Hospital.

The Honda’s driver was cited for failure to yield to traffic on a left turn, Mitchell said.

The collision left the cars partially blocking the intersection until approximately 8 p.m.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
