At approximately 8:55 p.m., Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue received reports of a vehicle rollover with unknown injuries at 1792 Diamond Valley Drive, Hunter Wolfe, the agency’s public information officer, said. Multiple agencies were dispatched.

The driver was reportedly driving too fast for the conditions, which caused the car to slide off the road and roll, Washington County Sheriff Sgt. Lucas Alfred told St. George News.

“The weather conditions from last night and into today have just been horrific for people to be driving in,” he said.

While en route, responders were notified the car had rolled multiple times and landed on its roof, Wolfe said, and that a man was trapped inside.

Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue requested an additional engine, and once crews arrived, they began to extricate the driver from the Ford Mustang and treated him at the scene, Wolfe said.

Responders prepared the man for transport and graded him as critical. Initially, an Intermountain Life Flight helicopter was requested but later canceled due to adverse weather conditions. The patient was transported to St. George Regional Hospital via a Gold Cross Ambulance, Wolfe said.

One fire engine from Diamond Valley Fire, two engines, a brush truck and a battalion chief from Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Wolfe said the roads were wet and slick at the time of the crash and advises drivers to slow down in adverse weather conditions.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by first responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
