CEDAR CITY — Police and emergency medical services were dispatched to the Cedar City Aquatic Center on Monday morning based on reports of a man in medical distress.

At approximately 10:31 a.m., the Cedar City Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to reports of a 68-year-old man enduring a medical emergency at the Aquatic Center, police Sgt. Justin Ludlow told Cedar City News.

The man was then pronounced dead, Ludlow added.

The cause of death is currently unknown, but Ludlow said the man had a medical condition that has not been disclosed.

Gabrielle Costello, Cedar City’s community relations and public information officer, said that an investigation is underway. No further details are available at this time.

The Cedar City Aquatic Center will remain closed for the rest of the day, Costello said.

This is a developing story.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
