The event was staged Tuesday in the lobby of the Udvar-Hazy business building and was hosted by Kyle Wells, dean of the College of Business. The Zonos Graduate Studies Lab will serve students in the Master of Accountancy program.

“This is more than just a ribbon cutting, it really is the beginning of a great relationship with Zonos,” Wells said. “Zonos is creating an economy that values business education and needs a skilled labor force. They are creating a place for my kids and yours that they can enjoy and live in this great place.”

Staff, students, Zonos employees and members of the community gathered in the lobby as they showed appreciation and anticipation for the opening of the classroom. They were joined by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Lacourse, as well as management, faculty and staff from the College of Business.

Jewel Mayoros, a student in the Master of Accountancy program, attended the event and emphasized to St. George News the importance of being able to have a classroom dedicated to students in her graduate program.

“It shows that the community and the university really value our education as students that they set something apart special for us so that we can get involved with the university and eventually the community,” Mayoros said.

The same support for the event was shown by Mayoros’ classmates Tori Weakley and Elizabeth Drinkall.

Wells added that the relationship with Zonos would have an impact on the city of St. George as well as the university.

In addition to partnering with the university for the renovation of the graduate studies classroom, Zonos also will be contributing to the renovation of the Smith’s Computer Center on the university campus. They also have helped to build science, technology, engineering and math pipeline programs, including Code Camp, for Washington County youth.

Zonos, formerly known as iGlobal, was founded by Clint Reid in 2009. The company specializes in cross-border technology and aims to create trust in global trade. To learn more about Zonos, visit their website.
