MESQUITE, Nev. — An individual who authorities are calling a “dangerous murder suspect” has been apprehended after a pursuit on Interstate 15 in Mesquite, Nevada, Friday afternoon.
In an advisory posted on social media at 2:15 p.m. MST, Mesquite Police said officers were on the scene on northbound I-15 near mile marker 117 assisting several agencies that were in pursuit of the suspect.
Mesquite Police Sgt. Wyatt Oliver reported the high-speed chase started in Las Vegas.
“North Las Vegas Police Department was in pursuit of a suspect,” Oliver said. “We had officers set up on the freeway to aid where we could, and they were able to spike the suspect’s vehicle and flatten the tires, and we were able to get the suspect into custody.”
Oliver added that Nevada State Police, formerly Nevada Highway Patrol, and several other agencies, including the Northeast Resident Section officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, assisted.
Anywhere from 25-30 units were involved in the pursuit and on the scene where the suspect was apprehended.
“There were no injuries, as far as I know,” Oliver said. “Once the tires were flat, the suspect stopped with no other incident or vehicle collision.”
Oliver said the North Las Vegas Police and other police were on the scene almost immediately after they put the suspect into custody.
As for the details of the suspect and alleged murder, Oliver said he did not have that information, as the investigation and case are under the direction and authority of the North Las Vegas Police Department.
