Lisa and Brandon Foster were sworn in on Dec. 14 at the Cedar City Council meeting. They introduced themselves, took oaths of service and pinned badges on each others’ uniforms.

The couple moved to Cedar City from Las Vegas, Nevada. Brandon Foster said he worked for the Las Vegas Metro Police Department for six years.

“We’re just excited to be here and to be a part of this town,” he said.

Lisa Foster, originally from the area, attended Cedar High School, Southern Utah University’s SUCCESS Academy and graduated from SUU, she said.

She met Brandon Foster during her senior year at the university. The couple moved to Nevada, where Lisa Foster said she worked for the Henderson Police Department for about one and a half years.

“I’m excited to be back in my hometown,” she said.

Cedar City Police Chief Darin Adams told Cedar City News that the department is always excited to welcome new talent and experience and that he is “certainly very big on diversity.”

“I want to diversify the department as much as we possibly can and really properly represent our citizens,” he said. “So to add another female to our department is very exciting. In addition, the experience she brings and her husband, Brandon, brings from his time with Las Vegas Metro – it’s just great to have officers who have some experience under their belts.”

Additionally, Adams said it is good to have someone who was originally from Cedar City return.

“That helps, too, with regard to community policing because she has a circle of influence,” he said.
