The semi was traveling southbound on I-15 when it rolled near mile marker 71, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Mikki Tucker said. Responders received the call at approximately 12:57 p.m.

The vehicle was still blocking both lanes shortly after 2 p.m. and traffic was being diverted off of Exit 71 near Summit. A tow truck was called to move the semi off the roadway, Tucker said, adding that because the trailer was empty, it likely wouldn’t take long to move.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly had no injuries and refused medical care, Tucker said. No other injuries or damages to property were reported.

While inclement weather could have contributed to the crash, Tucker said the exact cause is still unknown and under investigation.

To stay safe on the roadways in snowy conditions, Tucker said the most important thing to do is slow down. Additionally, drivers should check the condition of their tires.

“Make sure that you have good tires,” she said. “Because even if you slow down, but your tires are bad, there’s a high chance that you are going to slide on the freeway … Make sure you have good tread on them and slow down.”

The Parowan Police Department and the Parowan Fire Department also responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by first responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
