Motorcyclist goes to St. George hospital after collision with SUV; minor impact on traffic

ST. GEORGE — Afternoon traffic through the intersection of 1200 East 100 S was slowed briefly Wednesday after a car vs. motorcycle collision sent a man to the hospital.

St. George News arrived on scene after the driver of the motorcycle was taken to St. George Regional Hospital via ambulance shortly after 3 p.m.

St. George Police officer Andrew Mickelson confirmed to St. George News that the collision occurred after the driver of a blue Toyota Rav-4 turned left onto westbound 1200 E and pulled directly in front of the oncoming Kawasaki motorcycle.

Mickelson said the motorcycle driver suffered unknown injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The motorcycle appeared to have minor damage to the top of its dented gas tank as well as some scrapes and paint damage.

The front end of the Rav-4, meanwhile, appeared to have impact damage and dents to its left front end.

Both vehicles were towed away.

Mickelson said citations are pending but did not specify what they would be. He added that minor traffic congestion resulted for about 10 minutes.
