The funds will be utilized to build a shade and picnic pavilion at the Chuckwalla Trailhead in the Paradise Canyon management unit of the park, according to a news release from Friends of Snow Canyon State Park.

The pavilion will be completed by February 2024. The structure will be completed using monies from an estate trust and Friends will be seeking other financial grants.

Friends of Snow Canyon’s mission is to support the mission of the park; to preserve and protect the ecological, historical and recreational integrity of the Park through awareness and education; and to promote the development of facilities and responsible recreation for present and future generations.

FOSC is a 501(c)(3) organization comprised entirely of volunteers and has no administrative overhead. Friends is celebrating its 11th year and continues to promote good stewardship and a connection to Snow Canyon State Park, the news release said.

Its signature volunteer program, Trail Stewards, was created in 2014 to help maintain the park’s 38 miles of trails. With 61 dedicated stewards, the volunteer efforts enable park staff to dedicate more time to park projects and ensure guests a safe and memorable visit to this geological wonder now and into the future.
