The daily lottery runs every day including Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s, but due to the transition to the mobile-based daily lotteries, this will be the first year there will be no multi-day, in-person draws for the holidays, according to a press release from the BLM.

Applicants who have been selected through the mobile-based Coyote Buttes North Daily Lottery must pick up their permits and attend a safety briefing, which begins sharply at 8:30 a.m. The permit pick-up and safety briefing for Coyote Buttes South begins at 9 a.m. each day, the news release said.

Successful mobile-based daily lottery applicants can pick up permits at two locations: the Kane County Office of Tourism Visitor Center at 78 S 100 E, Kanab, Utah, or at the Page-Lake Powell HUB 48 S Lake Powell Blvd., Page, Ariz.

While these locations are closed three days during the year – Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day – visitors who successfully obtain permits for these days will receive a digital permit, map, safety brief and updated road and weather conditions through email.

The Paria Contact Station, which serves as a permit pickup location for the Paria Canyon Overnight permits and provides visitor information for the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, closed for the winter Nov. 19.

The last day for Paria Overnight permit pick-up at the Paria Contact Station was Nov. 18. It will reopen and resume a seven-day schedule around mid-March 2023.

Paria Canyon Overnight permits will be picked up at the Kanab Field Office or the Public Land Information Center in St. George during this time.
