ST. GEORGE — With the midterm elections sweeping across the nation Tuesday, here are a few last-minute tips to keep in mind this Election Day.

Registering to vote on Election Day and where to vote in person

If you haven’t registered to vote yet and still want a chance to, you can register in person at a voting center where you will receive a provincial ballot.

In order to register in person, you must provide acceptable forms of identification.

A form of state-recognized identification is also required to be able to vote. This can typically be a driver’s license or a state-issued ID.

A list of other forms of ID and documentation acceptable at the polls for in-person voting and same-day registration can be found here.

Voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mail-in ballots

If sent through the mail, a mail-in ballot must be postmarked by Nov. 7 in order to be counted.

If you haven’t mailed the ballot yet, elections officials have recommended foregoing the mailbox for the drop box. Sending mail-in ballots through the mail at this point can cause them to arrive late and will not be counted.

Conversely, ballots left in drop boxes are picked up on a regular basis and will be retrieved throughout the day on Election Day.

Washington County – Drop box locations

County drop boxes (top row) are open 24/7. However, ballots will not be accepted after 8 p.m. on Election Day. Municipal ballot boxes (rows 2-4) are open during regular business hours. No ballots will be accepted after normal business hours.
