Oct. 4, 1943-Oct. 27, 2022

LaVina Peine Timpson, mother to all, keeper of the faith, purveyor of stubbornness and everyone’s favorite cook, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the age of 79. Her spirit is carried on by her 13 children, 55 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a host of individuals, young and old, who felt at home with her beaming smiles and bearish hugs. She is also survived by her husband of 60 years and her four siblings. 

LaVina was born Oct. 4, 1943, in Durango, Colorado, to Fred Peine and Leora Burnham Peine. The second of five children, she was a spirited and independent child who spent much of her youth dancing to the beat of her own drum. At age 9, after her family had moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, she was baptized into The Work, and at 15, she began attending Firesides – all at the encouragement of her parents. 

A couple of years later, at age 17, LaVina became strangely curious about a young man by the name of Alma A. Timpson, Jr. Later that same year, after curiosity emerged as testimony, LaVina married Alma on July 26, 1962. They had 13 children between 1963 and 1985, all born in Utah.

On Oct. 4, 1990, on her 47th birthday, LaVina moved to Centennial Park, Arizona, and into her forever home – the home where she would spend the rest of her life. LaVina was a woman of legacy;  her story and her impact lives on through her love for her children, her love for her community and her love for her faith.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the Centennial Park Chapel, Centennial Park, Arizona.

A second viewing will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Centennial Park Chapel. 

The funeral service will be Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Centennial Park Chapel.
