Christianna Jane (Johnston) Wilson

Oct. 18 ,1939-Oct. 20, 2022

Christianna Jane (Johnston) Wilson, 83, passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 20, 2022, in St. George, Utah

Christianna was born on Oct. 18, 1939, in Bergland, Michigan, to William Albert Johnston and Mary Barbara (Willis) Johnston.

She married Carl Edwin Wilson on July 30, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, and together they raised their four children in Huntington Beach, California.

Christianna was raised in a small community in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As a child, she excelled at school and even taught Sunday school in the Methodist Church.  While attending school, she worked for a local diner and as a caregiver for her aunt.

After high school, Christianna headed west to California and was trained as a dental assistant. After the birth of her children, she was a homemaker and later worked for a local dry cleaner for several decades. She had a green thumb and loved being outside and gardening. Whichever state she lived in, she could be found climbing on ladders and under bushes. She could grow anything, taking special pride in her Cymbidium orchid plants which she would happily break apart the bulbs and give away to friends and neighbors. We can imagine that her beautiful orchids are all over Southern California by now!

Christianna’s biggest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, and more recently her Shih Tzu, Teddy. She spoiled all of them, always gave 100% of herself, and never asked for anything in return.

She had the best memory and could recall facts further back than anyone. She was tiny but so strong and could out-work and out-clean anyone.

Christianna is survived by her four children: Gregory Wilson, Glenn Wilson, Jeannine (Brian) DeVine and Carla (Johnnie) Peeples; two grandchildren: Kevin DeVine and Sarah DeVine; and one great grandson, Quincy DeVine. She is also survived by her three siblings: Millicent Wessel, Joseph Johnston and William Johnston Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl and both of her parents.

Interment will take place during a private service on Jan. 2, 2023, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach, California.

Condolences may be shared on the McMillan Mortuary website.
