Photo Gallery/Live Post: Santana, Bedford top man, woman as St. George Marathon finishers cross the line

ST. GEORGE — The leaders are crossing the finish line of the 46th annual St. George Marathon, and JJ Santana of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sylvia Bedford of South Jordan, Utah, have topped the field.

Santana covered the course in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 47, seconds to win the 26.2-mile trek, which starts in Central, goes south on state Route 18 through Veyo, Dammeron Valley and Diamond Valley and finishes in downtown St. George at Vernon Worthen Park.

Bedford was the top woman, placing 29th overall and running the course in 2 hours, 36 minutes.

St. George resident Aaron Metler, the defending champion, placed fourth in 2:23.01. He came in behind runner-up Jonathan Kotter (2:18.59) and Michael Otteson (2:22.56).
