Donald C. Helman

Donald C. Helman, 79, passed away on Sept. 3, 2022, in Westminister, California. He was born Nov. 14, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Earl and Margrette Helman. He grew up in Garden Grove and went to Lynwood High School.

He then went on to study at La Sierra University where he aspired to be a dentist, though his father Earl eventually got him a job working as an aircraft technician at McDonald Douglass. Don met Marcie at the Bayshore, and they were married by May 6, 1973. 

He was an avid body surfer at the wedge and also appeared in a Bruce Brown film “Endless Summer.” In his later years he enjoyed playing racquetball and taking trips to Palm Springs with his family and friends. Don enjoyed restoring old cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. 

He is survived by his stepchildren David Dulin, Sallie Smith and grandchildren Chris Dulin and Madison Smith.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, 10-10:30 a.m. at Pine View Mortuary, 566 North Mall Drive, St George, Utah, followed by a gravesite service 11 a.m.-noon at St. George Cemetery, 650 East Tabernacle Street, St. George.
