Karol Kuhn Truman was surrounded by family as she quietly and peacefully left this earth to join her beloved husband, Delmont, and her precious daughter, Rhonda.
Karol’s incredible life began on Oct. 13, 1935, when she was born to Millard and Naomi Kuhn in Mesa, Arizona. She always held Arizona close to her heart.
Karol was blessed with many talents, one in particular was becoming an accomplished pianist. Karol was awarded music scholarships at several universities, but she declined them all to go to Brigham Young University. It was at BYU where she met her husband, Delmont, who needed an accompanist for his voice lessons. Karol became Delmont’s eternal accompanist, and they shared their combined talents all throughout their lives. We are sure they will continue sharing beautiful music together for eternity.
Karol and Delmont made their first home in Flagstaff, Arizona, where they ran Karol’s father’s Dairy Queen. Two years later, they moved to St. George, Utah where they lived for the majority of their lives except for a few years in Orem, Utah then Las Vegas, Nevada. No matter where they resided, they were always participating in many musical and community events.
Karol taught piano at Dixie College for 17 years and continued teaching privately for many years. She loved every student she ever taught.
Karol was an avid learner and always had a desire to know the “why” of things. She was a pioneer in the holistic health industry and championed emotional healing and wellness. It was her research that inspired her to author three best-selling books. One of her self-published books, “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die,” has sold over one million copies and has been translated into five different languages. Through this book, Karol’s influence has been felt all over the world.
We will never know the impact Karol made or will continue to make through her cherished work and books.
Karol’s knowledge and appreciation for life gave her the opportunity to coach thousands of people and help them in their quest to become a better version of themselves. We know there are many on the other side who are now enjoying her inspired counsel.
Karol’s legacy lives on as she leaves behind three children: Daniel (Gina Dawn), Gina, and Boyd (Sandy), along with 14 amazing grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one due next month.
Preceding her in death is her husband Delmont, her daughter Rhonda, her mother and father and two brothers: Fred Kuhn and Paul Kuhn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. If attending the funeral, please refrain from wearing black, per Karol’s constant request.
Interment will take place in the Pine Valley Cemetery, Pine Valley, Utah.
