Louise Evelyn Fisher sailed away to the stars most peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2022 at her home with her two daughters by her side. She was born Louise Evelyn Stearns on April 2, 1945, in Toquerville, Utah, to Evelyn and Sumner Stearns, her wonderful parents, who she cared for in their later days until they passed.
Louise was a very caring person and worked as a nurse for Dixie Regional hospital, home health and then hospice. She grew up in Fresno, California, with her mother and brother, Bob Stearns, while her father was often away working on a Navy ship. She would frequently return to Toquerville to grow and play with her grandparents. In her 20s, she met her husband Steven Fisher and they would have two children. As time passed, they parted ways and she moved to St. George, Utah, where she became a very hard-working nurse as a single mother.
She very much enjoyed her love for music, fantasy and murder mystery books as well as a deep love for animals. She always had a couple of cats or dogs, who were lucky to cuddle her love. Louise also had a beautiful alto voice and sang with the Southwest Civic Corral for several years. Later in her life, she opened her own business for fantasy games with her friends who adored her.
She was a great lover of dogs and got her grandchildren involved in Flyball, a fun and fast-paced sport of dog racing. Her granddaughter won some dog shows with her prized cocker spaniel, Pix of Six. She was so proud. Louise also had a passion for horse races and it was a regular on her television. Throughout her life, she regularly attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in the St. George Temple. She and her daughter Dorothy spent many days together later in her life, which became a dear friendship. She spent the last of her years living at The Meadows assisted living, where she was still able to have her two cats. They left the day before she died and it was just as hard for them to leave her. She is truly a beautiful soul to all and will be sincerely missed.
She is survived by her brother Bob and Sheila Stearns; her daughter, Katie Hamilton, and her children Sophia Schwirzke and Ella Schwirzke; and by her daughter Dorothy Kyees and her children Alexis Kyees, Gabriel Kyees and Leo Kyees.
