Ellis Kay Cannon

Ellis Kay Cannon, 95, passed away on September 11, 2022.

Kay was born July 17, 1927, in St. George, Utah, to Glen Cannon and Mildred Shakespear. He married Helen Irene Roundy on September 23, 1947, in the St. George Temple. His eternal sweetheart passed on February 29, 2000, after 53 years of marriage. Later, Ellis married Ann Gardner Sullivan on May 25, 2002, making 19 years spent together. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a mechanic and spending time with family. Kay was in many bishoprics, a member of the high council, and served eleven years as the branch president of the Pine Valley branch. 

He is survived by his children, Janet Harris, Carla (Ralph) Barlow, Tony (Cindy) Cannon; one sister, Glenna Shaffer; and his wife Ann Cannon, her sons Stan, Brian, Steve, Shawn, Carl, and Scott Sullivan, 19 grandchildren, and 72 great-grandchildren, with extended family 32 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. 

Kay is proceeded in death by his parents Glen and Mildred Cannon, bothers Lloyd and Leon Cannon, and sister Ellen (Mike) Gale, great-grandson Ellis Barlow, grandsons Nick Cannon and Billie Cannon, and granddaughter Kathy (Trask) Johnson, sons Kelly (Sheila) Cannon, and Terry (Debbie) Cannon. 

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 591 West 500 North, St. George, Utah, with a visitation prior to services from 9 to 10:30 a.m.. 

The interment will take place at St. George City Cemetery, 650 East Tabernacle Street, St. George, Utah.
