St. George Police seek female driver, car after hit-and-run collision leaves man injured

ST. GEORGE — A hit-and-run collision of two vehicles in a townhome neighborhood in St. George left a 75-year-old man with minor injuries.

According to a text from St. George Police officer Tiffany Mitchell to St. George News, what appeared to be a dark SUV moving up the drive at 161 West 950 South hit a Kia sedan driven by the 75-year-old in a damaging front-end collision, then drove away.

The emergency call went out at 5:13 p.m. St. George Police and Gold Cross Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.

Mitchell reported that the male driver of the Kia experienced head pain and needed to rest but refused transport to the hospital.

Mitchell said that according to the male driver, a dark SUV hit his sedan head-on.

The female driver of the SUV got out, Mitchell said, blamed the other driver for driving on the wrong side of the road (which he wasn’t) and then drove away.

Mitchell said the SUV is still on the loose and is sought after by authorities. She said the vehicle will have heavy front-end damage.

The age of the female driver is unknown, Mitchell said, and anyone with information about her or the vehicle is encouraged to call the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300.

Witnesses reported to St. George News that the SUV may have been a black Chevy Tahoe.

This report is based on statements made at the scene by witnesses and information from police personnel, and may not include the full scope of the findings.
