CEDAR CITY — A cement mixer driver sustained minor injuries on Monday after officers said they drifted off the road and overcorrected, causing the truck to roll.

Shortly after 9 a.m., a cement mixer loaded with concrete was traveling north on state Route 130, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Mackelprang said. For unknown reasons, near mile marker 23, the truck drifted to the right and off the road.

The driver overcorrected and the vehicle rolled onto its passenger side, coming to rest on the road’s shoulder, Mackelprang said. Concrete poured out of the cement mixer and onto the surrounding landscape in the area just north of Gap Road directly west of Parowan.

The truck’s driver reported minor injuries and was transported to a hospital via Gold Cross ambulance, Mackelprang said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. However, there was “some very minor damage to state property,” Mackelprang said, but no citations were issued.

The Parowan Fire Department also responded to the scene.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
