As previously reported in Cedar City News, a man wearing dark clothing entered the Maverik store at 809 W. 200 North just before midnight on Aug. 10 and pointed a gun at the clerk, who was the only other person in the store at the time.

The ceiling camera surveillance footage shows the suspect, who is wearing a partial mask that conceals his lower face, vaulting over the counter, pocketing some cigarettes before moving over to the cash register and taking the money from the drawer as the store clerk stands to the side, next to the window, with his hands held up.

The suspect then hops back over the counter and leaves approximately 35 seconds after he entered the store around 11:42 p.m., according to the time stamp on the video.

The clerk was unharmed in the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as younger and shorter, possibly around 5-foot-6 and of somewhat stocky or athletic build. He appears to be wearing black-and-white Nike Air sneakers.

The make and model of the handgun used haven’t been determined, Cedar City Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow said.

After the robbery, the suspect is believed to have gotten into a silver passenger car that was last seen heading south on 900 West, police said.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect in the video or who may have other information about the incident is asked to contact Cedar City Police at 435-586-2956 and refer to case number C22-02416.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
