1 transported to hospital after making U-Turn into oncoming traffic

ST. GEORGE — An adult female was transported to St. George Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after making a U-turn into oncoming traffic Saturday. Her child riding with her was uninjured.

At about 1:43 pm, first responders were dispatched to the 700 block of North Bluff Street in response to a multiple vehicle crash. Upon arrival, the officers found a black Scion XB and a white Subaru Outback with damage.

“The white car was traveling northbound in the number 3 lane. The Scion, facing southbound, was in the continuous left-hand turn, made a U-Turn, and failed to yield to the white Subaru, causing a rear-end collision,” St. George Police Sgt. Cameron McCullough said.

The adult female in the Subaru had minor injuries and did not need medical transport. All of the airbags in the Subaru were deployed.

The father came and picked up his child after the examination by EMS personnel, who concluded the child did not need further medical assistance.

All persons involved were wearing seatbelts.

The Scion received extensive damage to the rear passenger side, while the Subaru received extensive damage to the front driver side. Both vehicles were towed.

The scene was cleared at about 2:27 pm.

The adult female in the Scion was cited for failure to yield.

McCullough emphasized the importance of patience and giving yourself enough time when turning while operating a vehicle.

St. George Police and the St. George Fire Department responded to the scene.
