ST. GEORGE — The Southwest is home to plenty of Tex-Mex and popular Mexican restaurants, but there’s nothing quite like an authentic street food experience.
“What’s on the Menu” host Sheldon Demke was in the mood for tacos, so he took his friend Crystal Reed to check out Angelica’s Mexican Grill in this week’s episode. They arrived just in time for the return of Angelica’s famous tortas, now smaller and easier to manage. Angelica’s cooks toast the bread directly on the grill, then add avocado, tomato, onion and a generous serving of seasoned carne asada.

“Angelica’s is literally one of my favorite spots in town,” Demke said. “Not only is the staff friendly and the location convenient, but the food is legendary.”
Next up, the fajita platter and more of that delicious carne asada on a bed of grilled veggies. Order it with a tortilla or without for a lower-carb option. Demke isn’t usually a low-carb guy, but to each his own.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a visit to Angelica’s without sampling their signature menu item: tacos. Angelica’s is known and loved by Southern Utahns for their authentic street tacos. Demke particularly enjoyed the carnitas, or sweet pork. Demke and Reed also bit into Angelica’s amazing street corn.
