2022 Primary election results for Iron, Washington counties

ST. GEORGE — The preliminary results for the 2022 Republican primary are coming in for Iron and Washington counties and the state overall.

Incumbents Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Chris Stewart have achieved victory over their primary challengers according to the numbers thus far, as has state Sen. Even Vickers for Senate District 28. The three candidates have each secured leads in their respective races.

In Iron County, Michael Bleak has the lead for Iron County Commission Seat A while Paul Cozzens maintains a lead over challenger Steve Miller at 55% of the vote thus far.

For the Iron County School Board races, Stephanie Hill has the lead in District 4 and Tiffany Christiansen leads in District 5.

In the legislative races representing Washington County, it is very close for House 71 between Joseph Elison and Willie Billings with Elison in a slight lead Tuesday night. As of Wednesday morning however, the race has flipped, putting Billings in a slight lead over Elison.

Rep. Colin Jack has taken House 73 so far, while the race for House 74 favors Neil Walter with nearly 61% of the vote.

In the race for Washington County Commission Seat A, incumbent Gil Almquist has secured 62% of the vote so far over challenger Allan Davis.

In the Washington County School Board races, David Stirland has 51% of the vote for Seat 5, while Burke Staheli has 60% of the vote for Seat 6.

Election results will be updated as the numbers come in. UPDATED: 1 p.m., Wednesday. 

The results of these races are considered preliminary and will not be made official until they are canvased in the coming weeks.
